Sunday thru Tuesday: Live Jazz friendly reminder

Three jam-packed days of Jazz – and, unless you are coming to Denton from elsewhere, the events are close by. The weather is beautiful, its time to shake off the layers of cold-weather gear, and meet your friends for a tasty Jazz show.
Sunday, April 14:
- A Taste of Herb (Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass tribute band) at Gerhard’s German Restaurant, 222 W. Hickory, Denton, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. – no cover
- Diaspora’s CD Release Party; featuring Evan Weiss, Tony Baker, Brad Leali, Stefan Karlsson, Fred Hamilton, Jose Aponte,
and Tito Carneco! We hope to see you there! Sweetwater Grill & Tavern, 115 S. Elm St., Denton, 7- 9 p.m. – FREE
- Bone Doggie’s Open Mic at Abbey Underground, 100 W Walnut St Denton, 9 p.m. – FREE
Monday, April 15:
- Vintage Jazz Society meets at the Center for Visual Arts, 400 E. Hickory St., Denton, 9:30 a.m. for discussion, followed by a jam session at 10:30 a.m. – everyone is welcome – FREE
- Late Night Jazz at the Greenhouse Restaurant, 400 N. Locust, Denton, 10 p.m. to Midnight.
Tuesday, April 16:
- Evidence / Music of Thelonius Monk at Sweetwater Grill & Tavern, 115 S. Elm St., Denton, 7- 9 p.m. – FREE
- Paul Slavens & Friends at Dan’s Silverleaf, 103 Industrial, Denton, at 8 p.m. – FREE. Stump this talented troop with a made-up
song title – and they will attempt to create a song on the spot. As they say, “No guarantees, no refunds.” This means, you put up the tip money, they put your “title” up front.
