For anyone used to live music scheduling, the term “subject to change” is a familiar disclaimer – so it is with this blog’s reporting of upcoming events. In this case, however, I am simply adding events. Enjoy your Jazz bliss.

Tuesday, May 15:

  • Jazz Night at Sweetwater Grill & Tavern, 115 S. Elm St., Denton,  features the  Gale Cruz Quartet – Smooth, Swing and Latin Jazz. The free music starts at 7 p.m.

  • Rosana Eckert Quintet plays 7-9 the Shops at Highland Village courtyard (between Chico’s and Italian restaurant Patrizio) at the corner of FM2499 and FM407 in Highland Village in southern Denton County. The series, which runs Tuesday nights through June 26, features award-winning students, faculty and alumni from UNT.

May 16:

  • Cristina and LatinVibes

    Cristina and LatinVibes offers a fiery mix of Salsa and Merengue – 5 p.m., Wednesday, at Simone Lounge, 222 W Hickory # 104, Denton.
    LatinVibes is infectious polyrhythmic grooves, harmonic colorings and improvisational lines all skillfully combined to create a unique sound that brings excitement from one of the finest Salsa, Merengue and Latin Jazz Orchestra in Texas.

  • A Taste of Herb – Tribute to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass at Dan’s Silverleaf, 103 Industrial, Denton, at 10 p.m. – FREE

Friday, May 18:

  • University of North Texas One O’Clock Lab Band performs in Winspear Hall in the Murchison Performing Arts Center (on UNT campus),  at 7:30 pm – $10
  • Dan’s Silverleaf, 103 Industrial, Denton, proudly presents the Denton Debut of Blueblood – featuring Jon R. Smith, sax; Kenny Traylor, guitar/vocals; Bobby Counts, bass; and Gonzy Trevino, drums. With special guests. Show: 9 p.m. / Tickets: $10.
    Blueblood features guys who have collectively played extensively with Albert Collins, Edgar Winter’s White Trash, Johnny Winter, Johnny Taylor, Buddy Miles and the Forever Fabulous Chicken Hawks. This will be a GREAT show! Not to be missed, according to Dan Mojica, Dan’s SilverLeaf co-owner.

Saturday, May 19:

  • UNT Jazz students play Fridays and Saturdays at Banter Bistro.

    Jazz at Banter Bistro, 219 West Oak Street,  Denton, 6-7:45 p.m. Prior to a fun night with Bone Doggie, 8-11 p.m.
    University of North Texas jazz programs bring a flow of unmeasurable talent through our gates and Banter is so happy to offer these musicians a corner to grace their audiences with their astounding talent. Andy LaViolette heads up a varied line up of bands for Friday and Saturday evenings.
